The Taxi and Limousine Commission of brand new York set outside in 2009 to look for a new Taxi for your metropolitan city. The commission were searching for the 'Taxi of tomorrow' to replace the iconic Chicago yellow cab. The yellow cab in New York could be much of an icon as London's black cab so any change is compelling. Nissan, the Japanese car maker has won the bid to become the provider of the 'taxi for tomorrow'. The Nissan NV200 taxi will be manufactured at Nissan's car plant in Mexico and is a modified version of the firm's current compact van. The Nissan NV200 based yellow cabs will be delivered from the end of 2013, currently that contract will run for a long time till 2023. Nissan is also set to introduce to six electric Nissan Leafs next year for taxi drivers to try out in a pilot palette. The Taxi kind of the Nissan NV200 will have customised features such as, 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine, 'low-annoyance horn with exterior lights that indicate when the vehicle is honking,' transparent roof panel and a mobile charging station for passengers. Carlos Tavares the Chairman of Nissan Americas said, 'Nissan is proud to produce the next generation of taxis for the City of New york. The NV200 taxi can bring Nissan the possibility of showcase our dedication to vehicle quality and urban mobility to more than 600,000 passengers every day.' The NV200 based taxi does not look anything like the present NY yellow cab; appears much a lot more like a Nissan Cube in Cardiff
